Mens swim trunks
This story is all changing your view of what mens swim trunks are.
For years and years mens swim trunks have been sorts and mens swim trunks as shorts have been getting bigger and bigger longer and longer to the point where there is a back lash of guys that are tired of wearing mens swim trunks that cover half of their bodies.
Mens swim trunks defined as board shorts, volley ball shorts, surf shorts, Speedo shorts, standard shorts and bathing suit shorts have been popular in the USA for years but not so much in the rest of the world. One might question in the USA are we ahead of the mens swim trunks curve or behind it?
From the changes that have been happening in the mens swim trunks field one could make the argument that we are far behind but starting to catch up and in some regards taking the design lead away from the Europeans with that lead landing right in the middle of Los Angeles, but more on that later. Europeans, Asians, Central and South Americans have always considered mens swim trunks to be bikinis, thongs and even g-strings. These are suits that let you get a great tan, show off all the hard work you have done in the gym and be as sexy as the girls something that is the norm in these countries. The idea that men should look sexy wearing mens swim trunks and these suits should not hide a way so much skin. From a logical standpoint swimming with huge surf shorts on is almost like being in the water fully dressed. Slip on a thong and you glide through the water, they feel so perfect in the water there is no drag on the body as they are like a second skin. The same is true for bikinis and g-strings they are the perfect mens swim trunks for the water, there is in fact a great reason why competitive swimmers always wear bikinis and never surf trunks because they are slow in the water and offer a ton of drag. Who ever came up with the idea of wearing these giant shorts for swimwear and having explode like it did in the states just amazes me. Times are changing and fashion and design trends with regards to mens swim trunks are changing faster then most other parts of men’s fashion. It is almost as though the styles of Europe are showing at the more proactive beaches in the USA. You see men at the beaches in Los Angeles wearing bikinis, thongs, g-strings and in some cases the new ultra micro mens swim trunks that are smaller than the European counter parts. The USA has taken the lead in micro swimwear for men and on any sunny day in LA, Miami or the gay beaches of the east coast parts of New York and New Jersey these extreme fashions are all over the place and they are creating so much excitement. There are mens swim trunks that are known as nude tanning experience suits. So small that they can duplicate the wearing getting the same tan they would get if they were nude and since there are so few nude beaches in the USA, hope fully that will change too, these suits are great options for the many nudists who want to enjoy our public beaches without being arrested!
Attitudes in Europe, Asia, South and Central America are much more relaxed when it comes to showing the male body. Everyone is fine with it and it is completely accepted.
In the USA the changes are coming on fast but not always smoothly. In a survey don by Koala swimwear asking hundreds of men if they would wear a bikini, thong or g-string they found that men in the big cities were A: much more likely to wear them in public B. More willing to try micro swimwear and already giving thought to making the change.
Smaller towns and mid west areas found more men willing to wear these suits in their own back yards and wanting to try them on but feeling peer pressure not to wear these styles in public. This pressure was from other men. In another survey Koala asked women throughout the USA if they would like to see men wearing sexy style mens swim trunks and over 90% said yes!
Wearing a bikini, thong or g-string made from Lycra spandex which includes the vast majority of these types of mens swim trunks is a completely different feel than wearing baggy shorts. Baggy shorts hide everything and spandex is completely opposite showing everything. These suit really are like having on a second skin. Most of these designs are not lined which show much more detail than men in the USA are used to showing but as these designs pick up steam and are seen on more and more beaches, lakes and hotels around the country men will get used to them and enjoy the feel of them just as men all over the world do everyday.
Swimwear is the one area where women are miles ahead of men when it comes to style and fashion. I think it is wonderful that a handful of companies are picking up these new styles and running with them. In fact as I said earlier companies like Koala swimwear in Los Angeles are considered world leaders in the mens swim trunks arena. They are actually manufacturing suits in the USA, when is the last time you heard of a clothing company making products in the USA and not importing them from Chine, Vietnam or Bangladesh? These extreme fashions are the future of men’s swimwear and in my opinion that future can’t come too soon!
